Unaccompanied Minor

Nathaniel, barely turned seven years old, flew for the first time by himself yesterday. We weren't able to come home for the holidays this year and he has been missing everyone in Indianapolis. So both sets of grandparents generously offered to pay for his ticket as his Christmas present!

Since Nathaniel is under eight years old, he had to fly from Raleigh-Durham International airport--the closest direct flight hub to Indianapolis. We went ahead and made a day of it in Raleigh especially since his flight wasn't until later in the evening. In fact, there ended up being a two hour delay due to mechanical issues. Nathaniel was supposed to depart at 8:15pm but instead left at 9:52pm!

Hubs was able to stay with Nathaniel the entire time and even wait at the gate until his plane was airborne. The girls and I stayed at the check in area, which thankfully wasn't busy at all since it was late. I was very anxious about this whole ordeal but Nathaniel handled it like a pro. He loved the whole experience and his favorite parts were the take off and landing (my least favorites!). He is obviously having a grand time in Indy but also can't wait to ride a plane again.

First Visit from Santa

Eleanor received a bouncer from her first visit from Santa! He must have heard how she loves to kick her legs and bounce on the one same one her older Kuya and Ate used.

Solid Food

For the past couple weeks, Eleanor has begun to pay attention to food and people eating. It is so awesome to witness these babies try to make sense of the world around them. And since she is now six months old, we will be introducing solids pretty soon. I really enjoy exclusively breastfeeding so I try to push it as later as possible. But like Hubs says, it is time.

Half Birthday

I cannot believe Eleanor is already half a year old! She brings all of us so much joy and we are so blessed to have her be a part of our family.

Santa Claus

It is a Christmas miracle! I cannot believe there were no tears this year. I expected Eleanor to cry because we had to wake her up from her nap when it was our turn. She also doesn't like anyone else holding her except for Mama. As for Amelia, she did so much better this year. In fact, she couldn't wait to tell Santa what she wanted for Christmas (Hello Kitty). And Nathaniel had a long, serious talk with Santa about how to get off the naughty list. Lately, Nathaniel is having trouble listening and being grateful for what he already has. Here's hoping he can turn his attitude around and move his name to the nice list in time for Christmas!

Gunny Claus

We were so excited to see Gunny Claus at Daddy's battalion holiday party yesterday. It is our third year of visiting with him. And I guess third time really is the charm because Amelia didn't shed a tear at all this year! And as always, Gunny Claus had a lovely ornament for us and presents for the little ones.

Party of Five

Our new Christmas ornament this year. I wasn't very excited when I found out last November that I was pregnant with our little surprise. I just wasn't ready yet. But as always, God's plans are and will always be far greater than my earthly plans. Eleanor is a blessing I didn't know I was missing and absolutely needed.

I just love us. So much.

Five Months Old

Five Months Old. Eeep! How is it possible that Eleanor is only a month a way from her half birthday? Time needs to slow down!

Rocks by and forth. Eleanor loves to swing her upper body back and forth when she is sitting on your lap. It's all adorable and fun until she does it so hard and hits you right on the chest and collar bone. I don't know how it doesn't give her a headache!

Laughs at her siblings. She is beginning to interact with her siblings and Nathaniel especially loves it. Eleanor will gaze and follows their movement and then laughs when Kuya does something silly.

Pick me up, please! Because Eleanor can now understand her surroundings, she gets really excited when I (or Daddy) walk by. She thinks we are getting ready to pick her up! So naturally, tears ensue when we pass by her.

Kick, kick, kick. This lady loooooves to kick. She can kick those chunky legs all day long!

First Halloween. Eleanor dressed up as a giraffe for Halloween. It was Nathaniel's old Halloween costume from Lola. Daddy added a bow since so  many were commenting how handsome she looked ;)

First Thanksgiving. I debated giving Eleanor her first taste of table food on Thanksgiving. She is starting to watch people eat but when I put an apple against her mouth (to taste the juice), she doesn't really try to eat it.

World Champs. Eleanor's first year on earth and the Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Maybe she is what Daddy needed all along to break the 108 year old curse of the goat.

Double Ear Infection. When the rest of the family was recovering from the plague Strep throat, Eleanor developed an ear infection. Her pediatrician was about to swab her throat (since Eleanor has positive contact from us) when he noticed during his assessment that her eardrums were beefy red. Poor Ellie wasn't even pulling on her ears! Other than runny nose, her only other symptoms were high temperature, lethargic and no appetite.

Chunky. She weighed 13lbs, 11oz during her doctor's visit. Eleanor is finally getting some rolls!

No baths! Eleanor hates baths :( She hates it so much that she cries as soon as she hears the water and I undress her. I'm hoping this will eventually change when she can sit up. But for now, it's quick in and out of the tub because it is just as stressful for me.

Halloween 2016

For Halloween, Nathaniel was Ash Ketchum from Pokemon, Amelia was Pinkie Pie equestria girl from My Little Pony, and Eleanor was an adorable giraffe. Hubs and I dressed up as well. He was Jake from State Farm and I was Flo from Progressive ;) Most of our costumes came from our closets and the rest were made from clothes bought at Goodwill. I am very proud of Nathaniel's shirt! The stitches are definitely amateur but it looks pretty authentic from afar, don't you think?

We noticed that Nathaniel wasn't as into trick or treating this year. He was excited all weekend and the day of. Bbut when it come down to the actual event, he stayed mostly next to me. I think he's still recovering from being sick. He ran a high fever over the weekend and although it is gone for the most part, I believe his body hasn't fully recovered just yet.

Amelia loved going door to door with Daddy! She wanted to knock on all the doors--even the ones with their front porch lights off. She loved saying "Happy Halloween" and/or "Trick or treat!" Amelia did get easily scared though. Anything that is remotely closed to being "spooky" or unusual made her cry.

Eleanor wore her Kuya's old halloween costume. Nathaniel never actually wore it for Halloween. My mom bought it after the holidays and by the next Halloween, he was already too big for it. We clipped a bow on one of the ears to avoid any confusion. Many people commented how handsome she looked when she wore it this past weekend at a birthday/halloween party. Eleanor enjoyed looking at the street lights (I was pushing her in a stroller) and eventually fell asleep.
